‘Akshay Kumar di movie dekhan aaleyon sharm karo (Those who watch Akshay Kumar’s movie, have some shame),’ the protestors shouted.
In a video shared on social media, a group of supporters of farmers protesting against the three farm laws, staged a unique protest outside Phul theatre in Patiala.
These protestors confronted those coming out of the theatre after watching Akshay Kumar’s newly released movie ‘Bell Bottom’. The protestors, without any physical contacts, raised slogans and shamed the people for watching the star’s movie.
‘Akshay Kumar di movie dekhan aaleyon sharm karo (Those who watch Akshay Kumar’s movie, have some shame),’ the protestors shouted, as those leaving the theatre passed by.
Akshay Kumar, along with other bollywood and cricket celebrities, had taken a stand in support of the government after global pop-star Rihanna tweeted about the ongoing farmers’ protest. These celebrities had said that it is an internal matter of the country and will be solved by the government and stakeholders “amicably”. Akshay Kumar is considered close to the current ruling dispensation and has supported it through his initiatives or movies.
Farmers constitute an extremely important part of our country. And the efforts being undertaken to resolve their issues are evident. Let’s support an amicable resolution, rather than paying attention to anyone creating differences. #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda https://t.co/LgAn6tIwWp

However, there has been no outcome in the farmers’ protest, despite them protesting at the Delhi borders for over 9 months now.
