Jaipur| A huge swarm of Locusts attacked the Jaipur city on Monday. Locust teams reached Rajpark, Transport Nagar, Parkote area, Old Basti, Vidyadhar Nagar and Jhotwara. After this, the swarm moved towards the surrounding villages of Jaipur. It is for the first time that a locust attack occurred in summer.
Earlier on Sunday night, a locust swarm attacked Vidyadhar Nagar. People had to turn off the lights as grasshoppers entered people’s homes. The Locust attack has now threatened the standing crops and farms.

The desert locust is considered one of the most devastating pests in the world. It generally arrives unexpectedly following a change in wind direction in search of food. In India, a locust attack of this scale is happening as many as 10 years later.
The extent of damage is yet not known. Social media users shared videos which showed locusts swarming entire terrace.
