New Delhi| Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday took on microblogging site Twitter to dismiss the rumours about his health. In his tweet, Shah said that many social media users have spread rumours about his health while some of them have even wished for his death.
Citing his responsibility as Home Minister, Shah said he’s been busy with the handling of the Covid-19 crisis. He said, “When this (rumours) was brought to my attention, I thought I would let people enjoy their fantasies which is why I did not respond any earlier.”
About an hour before his tweet, Gujarat police had arrested two people each from Bhavnagar and Ahmedabad for indulging in rumour-mongering over Home Minister’s health.
“However, my party workers and lakhs of well-wishers have been expressing concerns for the past two days and I cannot neglect their worries. This is why I want to state clearly today that I am absolutely healthy and not suffering from any illness,” the statement by Amit Shah read.
Giving reference to Hindu religious beliefs, he said such rumours only makes one’s health stronger. “For this reason, I hope that the people indulging in this acts (rumours) leave this nonsense and let me do my work while they do their own,” Amit Shah said.
