Ramdev calls Ambedkar and Periyar as “Intellectual terrorist”

New Delhi: Recently, the Yoga guru and Patanjali founder appeared on a televised interview where he called the supporters of anti-caste activists like Periyar E.V. Ramaswami and BR Ambedkar “intellectual terrorists”. On November 11 The interview was aired in social media is filled with criticism of Ramdev since.

On Friday, BoycottPatanjali started trending on Twitter followed by #ShutdownPatanjali and #ArrestRamdev. On twitter, anti-caste activists such as tribal leader Hansraj Meena, professor Dilip Mondal, and many others called out Ramdev’s insolence and expressed outrage at being tagged the leaders as “intellectual terrorists”.

Many people asked for an apology from the Yoga guru. This kind of outrageous commentary on Ambedkar, Periyar and calling us “intellectual terrorists” will not be tolerated” said many people on Twitter.

This is not the first time that Ramdev has attracted criticism for making casteist remarks. In 2014, Ramdev was also trolled for accusing Rahul Gandhi of visiting Dalit homes for honeymoon and picnic. Yoga guru has many times sparked controversy by commenting against leaders in interviews.

In the TV interview, Ramdev had said that followers of Periyar have increased negativity. “Supporters of Periyar say that people who follow gods are fools, those who worship him are miscreants and that God is evil, and such rubbish.”

Later in the interview, yoga Guru claimed that the followers of those people were “dividing” India, and he had coined a term for them as intellectual terrorists.
