Ipsos survey collected data from 14 countries which suggests that only in 4 countries (China, India, Italy, Russia), the majority of people support restarting the economy with the coronavirus still uncontained and pretty much out there. While only in two countries (Germany, Italy), the majority of people are not “very nervous” about leaving their homes.
Surprisingly, those who want their economies restarted before the virus is contained also report being “very nervous” about leaving their homes after lockdown ends- with 72% Japanese and 82% Indians. This means that countries that are willing to re-open economies may find it difficult to get people out of their homes in order to kickstart activities as usual.
