‘No party except BJP can form govt in the state, says Fadnavis in BJP meeting

Former Chief Minister of Maharastra Devendra Fadnavis’s statement comes after when the Congress-NCP and Shiv Sena alliance seems to be slowly finalized

Mumbai: On Thursday Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that if there is no alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Maharashtra. He also added that no other government would be able to sustain for more than six months.

Ex-chief minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis was speaking to the party MLAs in a meeting in Dadar in Mumbai. He Addressed a huge audience which included the party MLAs and independents, Devendra Fadnavis said that the three parties Congress-NCP and Shiv Sena will not able to form the government.

Fadnavis said that the party felt that such a government cannot be formed in the first place. He added that if the alliance of Congress-NCP and Sena does form the government in Maharashtra it won’t sustain for more than six months. Apart from this, Devendra Fadnavis added that there was no alternative to the BJP government in the state.

The three parties on Thursday asserted that they had worked on the basis of the common minimum program and the minutes would be shared with the respective party heads for further deliberations.

Addressing the media after the meeting, BJP leader Ashish Shelar said that the meeting had discussed the present political state in Maharashtra but refused to comment on any political questions.

However, BJP leader Ashish Shelar elaborated that the MLAs had been instructed to visit their respective constituencies in the coming days to gather details on the affected farmers and also help the farmers.

In the recent elections, BJP won 105 seats and has emerged as the single largest party. Its alliance partner, Shiv Sena bagged 56 seats but post elections, the alliance broke apart. ShivSena chief Uddhav Thackeray charged the BJP for not delivering on its allegedly promised 50-50 formula which referred to equal distribution of power including rotational Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, the BJP expressed its inability to form the government and hence the onus fell on the second-largest party, Shiv Sena. Ever since Sena has been trying to stitch together an alliance with Congress and NCP. It wasn’t able to prove the majority numbers to the state governor. After this, the NCP was asked to show its will and ability to form the government. Currently, Maharashtra is under President’s rule.
