Second day of informal summit, Modi-Xi Jinping to hold talks for 6 hours

There will be a discussion at the representative level between Modi and Jinping. Modi will host a lunch for the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

 

Mahabalipuram| Chinese President Xi Jinping once again met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the second day of his two-day visit to India. The two leaders are holding a one-to-one meeting at Taj Fisherman Cove Resort in Kovalam, Tamil Nadu. After this, there will be a discussion at the representative level between Modi and Jinping. Modi will host a lunch for the Chinese President. The two leaders will spend about 6 hours together today. Modi visited Wuhan in China for the first informal meeting in April last year. The two leaders will also meet at the ASEAN Summit to be held in Bangkok between 31 October and 4 November.

The plan for this two-day meeting has been prepared keeping in mind that the two leaders can hold about six hours of talks. After this, separate statements will be issued by the two countries. The purpose of this meeting is to exchange ideas on important topics.

Jinping reached Mahabalipuram on Friday

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Mahabalipuram on Friday for a second informal meeting with Modi. Modi welcomed the President of China in traditional Tamil costumes. During this, Modi made Jinping visit Arjuna Tapasya Sthal and Shore Temple in Mamallapuram and explained the importance of these places. After a cultural program in Mahabalipuram, Modi gave dinner to Jinping.

For Dinner, Jinping was served traditional South Indian dishes. These included Archu Vitta Sambhar, Thakkali Rasam, Kadalai Korma and Halwa. The talks over this dinner lasted for 2 hours, the two leaders discussed many issues.

Raised concern over terrorism and radicalism

Late night, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale in a press conference and informed about the activities of the day. He said that Xi Jinping expressed his desire to discuss with Modi the issue of trade and international priorities. Modi-Jinping, while expressing concern over terrorism and radicalism, have emphasized the need to fight this challenge together.
