Before IndiGo airlines, Air India had complained of their crews being ostracized by neighbours and Resident Welfare Associations.
New Delhi| The coronavirus has certainly brought difficult times for the country, making several states come at a standstill due to the outbreak of the virus. IndiGo airline has also been impacted. The airline complained that it’s employees are being discriminated and ill-treated by the society for their ‘line of duty and travel history’.
This comes after Air India had written a letter about how their crews are being ostracized by their neighbours and Resident Welfare Associations for evacuating Indians from Coronavirus-hit countries.
A day after Air India’s letter, PM Modi had tweeted applauding the crew of Air India for showing courage and rising to call of humanity.
Extremely proud of this team of @airindiain, which has shown utmost courage and risen to the call of humanity. Their outstanding efforts are admired by several people across India. #IndiaFightsCorona https://t.co/I7Czxep7bj

Quoting the tweet of Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, PM Modi had said, “Extremely proud of this team of @airindiain, which has shown utmost courage and risen to the call of humanity. Their outstanding efforts are admired by several people across India. #IndiaFightsCorona.”
He shared the tweet of Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in which Puri had said, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going,” with a picture of the crew of Air India Boeing 777 headed by Captain Swati Raval and Captain Raja Chauhan who airlifted 263 Indians, mostly students, stranded in Rome.
Not just Rome, Air India also evacuated Indians stuck in Milan last week. It was also among the very few airlines to airlift nationals from Wuhan, the epicentre of coronavirus outbreak.
In its press release, the Air India has expressed the dismay over the treatment it’s crew is receiving from the neighbours and vigilante Resident Welfare Associations. Air India also clarified that it is ensuring every safety for their crew who are involved in the operations of evacuating Indians. The crew after performing their operations and crossing every safety check are advised home quarantine. That is when neighbours and other vigilante associations are harassing them because they have travelled abroad to evacuate people.
