The statement read, ‘… we stand with the govt in our common resolve to fight the lethal COVID-19 Virus’
MUMBAI| On Sunday in the awake of Coronavirus across the globe ‘Mumbai Bagh’ Women have decided to suspend their protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Population Register (NRC). The protest against the CAA bill was called in different parts of the country after the Modi government passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the parliament on 11 December 2019.
Inspired by Shaheen Bagh the protest was called in Mumbai on the streets of Nagpada from 26 January 2020. The Shaheen Bagh in Delhi crossed 100 days and in Mumbai, the protest crossed more than 50 days.
A statement released by the Mumbai Bagh protestors read as, As a part of the larger national responsibility, we have decided to suspend our Andolan against the CAA-NRC-NPR in wake of the looming threat to our nation, our society.
We, the protestors understand our responsibility towards the larger good of the people and thus as responsible citizens are following the guidelines and measures as stated by the government.
Our struggle is against the Central Govt on CAA, NRC & NPR, but we stand with the govt in our common resolve to fight the lethal COVID-19 Virus. We will adhere to and take all due precautions as part of duty towards our nation.
We, the Satyagrahis of Mumbai Bagh stand at one with the nation and are united against the pandemic. Our resistance and protest will continue in other forms in the days to come.

On Sunday, to protect the citizen from COVID-19, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announced section 144 across the state from Monday morning. Besides, local trains and passenger trains have already been suspended until March 31.
In Mumbai patients of COVID-19 are increasing day by day. The number has roll over to 89. 15 new positive cases registered in Maharashtra on Monday morning. 14 at Mumbai and 1 at Pune, 8 contacts of earlier positive cases & 4 with travel history to affected countries. Total positive 89 cases as of now.
