In her petition, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Sana IItija Javed said that she was unable to contact her mother for almost a month.
New Delhi| In a relief for the detained Kashmiri leader Mehbooba Mufti, the Supreme Court today allowed her daughter to meet her. Responding to the petition, Supreme Court today said that Iltija should be allowed to meet her mother.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration had put several leaders under house arrest on August 5 ahead of the announcement of abrogation of Article 370 from the state. The special status was withdrawn from the state and it was bifurcated into two Union Territories. The government said it detained the leaders to avoid any untoward incidents of violence. It has been a month since the communication blockade in the region.
In her petition, Mufti’s daughter Sana IItija Javed said that she was unable to contact her mother for almost a month. She also said she has been worried about her mother’s health who is in detention.
Iltija is currently in Chennai and will be travelling to Srinagar to meet her mother. However, the CJI-led bench said that the permission is only to meet her mother in Srinagar. If she wants to go in any other parts of the state, she will have to take the permission of the concerned authorities.
