The “sansad ghero” protest was called by the Jamia Coordination Committee against the CAA and National Register of Citizen (NRC).
New Delhi| An anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) march from Jamia Millia Islamia to Parliament began today amid massive security deployment. The police had earlier dismissed permission to the protesters to march to Parliament.
Number of residents in Jamia Nagar staged a protest outside JMI against the CAA and NRC. The protesters led by Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC), a group comprising JMI students and alumni, prepared to march towards Parliament to raise their voice against the two laws. The protesters raised slogans like “Kagaz Nahi dikhayenge (we will not furnish our papers)”.

Meanwhile, the march began about an hour late, with slogans of “Aeen ke dum pe march karenge” (We will march with power from the Constitution).
Protesters in JMI today climbed police barricades to continue their march towards Parliament.
The cops have also summoned additional force from four districts. Section 144 has also been imposed in the area.
CAA protests have broken out across India, a few of them violent, against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019.
