New Delhi: On Monday the Supreme Court of India will hear the batch of pleas against protests at Shaheen Bagh after it deferred its judgment in opinion of the February 8 Delhi elections.
Meanwhile, the issue which came up before the top court on Friday and the court has said it did not want to “influence” the Delhi assembly elections a day ahead of polls.
“The top court understands there is a serious problem and Shaheen Bagh issue needs to resolve. Certainly, we will take it up on Monday with a better position,” justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph said.
An advocate appearing for one of the pleas said that Delhi election was scheduled on February 8, the bench said, “That is exactly why we are saying come on Monday. Why should we influence it?”

The agitators at Shaheen Bagh, Maximum are women who have been opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA, which was passed on December 12 and provides citizenship to persecuted minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
The exclusion of Muslims has triggered countrywide outrage and led to protests across India. Many protesters inspired by the Shaheen Bagh demonstration also came up in UP’s Lucknow, Prayagraj and other areas.
