“Rahul Gandhi wanted to meet the Army and ones under arrest”, says Satya Pal Malik

Srinagar | Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has slammed the opposition leaders who went to Srinagar on Saturday last week to take stock of the situation in Kashmir Valley.

“Rahul Gandhi has made my invitation an unending business. I had said if you don’t believe us then come and visit. Later he said I’ll meet people under house arrest and will meet Army. I said I can’t accept these conditions and leave it to administration,” Satya Pal Malik told news agency ANI.

He claimed that Jammu and Kashmir in the future will be an “ideal place to live”.

“We have abrogated article 370, and you will see in the coming days, we will work so much for the people of Kashmir, and create such circumstances, that people of PoK will start saying- see, that (Jammu&Kashmir) is the ideal place to live,” he said.

Malik also slammed Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for calling him to state BJP president, saying he was doing is work and didn’t care about false allegations.

“Atleast there is no loss of human life”, Satya Pal Malik

Earlier today, Governor Satya Pal Malik had defended Centre’s move of cutting down all the communication lines.

“In all the crises that happened in Kashmir in the past, at least 50 people used to die in the first week itself,” Satya Pal Malik was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“Our attitude is such that there should be no loss of human lives. If there’s no telephone for 10 days, so be it. But we will roll back these measures very soon,” said Mr Malik, who was in Delhi on Sunday to attend the funeral of former Union Minister Arun Jaitley.

He said the situation os almost on the verge of becoming normal.

“There is no shortage of essential commodities and medicines in Kashmir. In fact, we delivered meat, vegetables, and eggs to people’s houses on Eid… your opinion will change in 10-15 days,” he said.
