Biarritz (France) | Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be meeting US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit on Monday.
This development comes days after President Donald Trump had offered to mediate on the Kashmir issue. Donald Trump had even claimed that both Imran Khan and PM Modi had asked him for help in solving the Kashmir issue.
Kashmir is likely to be discussed when Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets United States President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit on Monday, American officials have said.
India is not a member of the G7 group of nations, but was personally invited by French Presiden Emmanuel Macron.
He is scheduled to address sessions on the environment, climate, oceans and digital transformation at the Summit.
Officials have said that Trump was curious to know how PM Modi plans to reduce the ongoing tension in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

“The President will likely want to hear from Prime Minister Modi how he plans to reduce regional tensions and uphold respect for human rights for Kashmir, as part of India’s role as the world’s largest democracy,” a senior US administration official said.
“The President is likely to stress the need for dialogue among all sides of the conflict and his hope that India would lift the communications and movement restrictions in Kashmir and exercise the utmost restraint in dealing with potential protests,” the official said.
Trump has also asked Pakistan to “crack down on groups on its territory that have attacked India in the past”, senior US administration officials said. “And certainly, President Trump is also calling on Pakistan to prevent the infiltration of militants across the Line of Control that divides Kashmir and to crack down on groups on its territory that have attacked India in the past”, the official said.
Donald Trump offers to mediate again
Last week, Trump for the second time offered to mediate on Kashmir, after phone calls with both PM Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. “Kashmir is a very complicated place. You have Hindus and you have the Muslims and I wouldn’t say they get along so great,” Mr Trump told reporters in the White House. “I will do the best I can to mediate,” he said. “…you have two counties that haven’t gotten along well for a long time and frankly, it’s a very explosive situation,” he added.
