“Abandon Anti-reservation mindset,” says Mayawati on Bhagwat’s reservation comment

Retorting to Mohan Bhagwat’s statement on the reservation, Mayawati said, “It is better if the Sangh abandons its anti-reservation mindset.”

 

New Delhi| Mohan Bhagwat’s statement on the reservation has now taken a political turn. Slamming the RSS chief Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati said that it will be better if Sangh gets rid of its “Anti-reservation” mindset.

The BSP leader said in a tweet,

“The RSS’s assertion that SC / ST / OBC reservation should be debated with an open heart creates a situation of doubt which is not needed.”

 

“Reservation is a humanitarian constitutional system. Tampering it is unfair and unjust. It is better if the Sangh abandons its anti-reservation mindset,” she said.

Not only Mayawati, but Congress also targeted Mohan Bhagwat and hit out at the BJP. Congress leader Randeep surjewala said that Bhagwat’s comments expose BJP’s Anti Dalit mindset.

BJP trying to divert attention from real issues

Congress leader Pawan Khera claimed that the purpose of Bhagwat’s statement is to divert public attention by creating controversy. He told reporters,

“It has become a habit of BJP and RSS to keep people busy through controversies so that people stop asking tough questions and basic issues do not arise.”

He said that Mohan Bhagwat’s statement came when he was asked questions on the poor state of the economy. Talking about the controversy, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that there is no need for any debate on Reservations.

Mohan Bhagwat calls for discussion on reservation

Mohan Bhagwat advocating an open discussion on reservation said that every time there is a debate on this topic, it leads to extreme actions and reactions. He said those who favour the reservation should also keep in mind the interest of those who oppose it. Similarly, those who oppose it should keep in mind the interests of those who favour it. He said considering this harmonious approach there should be a dialogue on a reservation in the country.
