Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expresses shock at court’s verdict in Pehlu Khan lynching case

New Delhi | Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has expressed shock after a court acquitted all the 6 accused in Pehlu Khan lynching case.

She also lauded the Rajasthan government for filing an appeal into this case

Taking to Twitter, Priyanka Gandhi has said, “The lower court’s decision on Pehlu Khan is shocking. Our nation shouldn’t have any place for such inhumanity and mob lynching is a shameful crime.”

She added, “The Rajasthan government’s move to bring an anti-lynching law is commendable. Hope by getting justice for Pehlu Khan, this will set a good example.”

An Alwar court on Wednesday acquitted all six accused in the lynching of Pehlu Khan after it gave the men “the benefit of doubt” due to “serious lapses” in the police probe.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot later tweeted that they will invoke Anti-lynching bill, which was passed in Rajasthan Assembly on August 5.

Pehlu and 6 others were returning from a cattle fair in Jaipur after purchasing cows and other bovine animals when they come under a brutal attack on National Highway 8 linking Jaipur to Delhi.

The incident happened two years ago on April 1 on the Delhi-Alwar highway.

He had succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital two days later.
