Himachal Pradesh: MBBS Students On COVID-19 Duty To Get Rs 3000/Month

The fourth and fifth-year MBBS students, contractual doctors, and junior/senior residents would receive an incentive of Rs 3,000 per month while nursing students, General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) third-year students and contractual lab staff would be provided with an incentive of Rs 1,500 per month.

Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur announced on Tuesday that the doctors and para-medical staff working at COVID-19 hospitals would receive financial incentives till June 2021. This move comes after a day the Centre allowed seeking the help of medical interns in the fight against the pandemic.

The fourth and fifth-year MBBS students, contractual doctors, and junior/senior residents would receive an incentive of Rs 3,000 per month while nursing students, General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) third-year students and contractual lab staff would be provided with an incentive of Rs 1,500 per month.

The Health and Family Welfare department took the decision amid a surge in Covid cases that have put health infrastructure in the state under pressure. The state has witnessed over 2,600 daily cases with border districts of Kangra, Solan, and Una being the worst hit. As per NDTV, later in the day, the CM visited Radhaswami Satsang Vyas at Paraur in the district and directed officials to create an additional bed capacity of 250 within the next 10 days that would gradually increase to about 1,000 beds.

Meanwhile, India’s total case tally has crossed the 2-crore mark with 3,57,229 fresh cases in 24 hours, taking the total caseload to 2,02,82,833.
