The protesters allege that the Bengal Police on Thursday lathi-charged the students while they were taking out a march demanding employment. In protest against this, the Left and Congress have called for 12-hour Bandh. Left Front chairman Biman Bose said that the bandh would start from 6 am in the morning till 6 in the evening.

Railway workers have blocked the railway track at Kachrapara railway station in North 24 Parganas. CPI (M) members blocked Ghosh Para Road in Shyamnagar. Activists said that Mamata Banerjee’s government is trying to suppress the voice of the youth. In Kolkata, activists have blocked the road near Sukanta Bridge. A large number of police forces have been deployed during this period.
