New Delhi : Before entering the parliament Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking to media ahead of the Parliament Winter Session stated that government is willing to reply all the queries about all the issues. He further asserted that the dignity of the Parliament must be maintained.
In his traditional remarks ahead of the session, Modi said, “The government is willing to answer every question. We want questions in parliament and also peace. Whatever voices are raised against the government or government policies – the dignity of parliament and the Speaker’s Chair should be upheld. We should maintain the sort of conduct that will inspire younger generations.”
The Prime Minister also put out a warning on the new Covid variant ‘Omicron’, urging all MPs and others to be cautious “as everyone’s health is a priority in this hour of crisis”.
In the 19 sittings of the Winter Session, the government is expected to introduce 36 legislative Bills and one Finance Bill.
The Farm Laws Repeal Bill has been listed for introduction and passage in the Lok Sabha on the first day. It will be introduced by the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. The ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have issued whips to their MPs to be present on the day.
Opposition Parties, as well as those friendly to BJP have demanded a statutory backing to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops for farmers at an all-party meeting Sunday. Joining the Congress in seeking legal guarantees on the MSP were Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, YSR Congress Party, Biju Janata Dal, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Aam Admi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and the Left parties.
According to sources, on Friday the bill was circulated to the Rajya Sabha members, for consideration as passed by Lok Sabha. The government, they said, was likely to move it in the Rajya Sabha too on Monday itself after it was passed by Lok Sabha.
The other bills to be passed in the session include the crucial Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy (Second Amendment) Bill, 2021, and the Electricity (Amendment) Bill.
