After pop-star Rihanna tweeted about the ongoing farmers’ protest in India, massive international support is pouring in for the agitating farmers. Rihanna had shared a CNN article about the internet shutdown around national capital in the wake of farmers’ protest.

Lilly Singh, widely popular Youtuber and talk show host, shared Rihanna’s tweet and said: “Yes! Thank you so much @rihanna. This is a humanity issue! #IStandWithFarmers and this narrative is TIRED.”

Amanda Cerny, popular American vlogger and actress having over 45 million followers across various social media platforms, posted on her Instagram account about the farmers’ protest. Sharing a black-and-white image of elderly ladies at the protest site, she said: “The world is watching. You don’t have to be Indian or Punjabi or South Asian to understand the issue. All you have to do is care about humanity. Always demand freedom of speech, freedom of press, basic human and civil rights-equity and dignity for workers.”

Popular Twitter account @TheTweetOfGod, having over 6 million followers on Twitter, also posted the CNN article shared by Rihanna and said: “India: the world’s largest soon-to-be-former democracy.”

In another tweet, taking on the Indian Prime Minister and his supporters, the Twitter account said: “Modi and I are actually quite similar. Without our legions of millions of deluded bhakts, neither of us would have any power.”

Ugandan climate justice activist Vanessa Nakate also came in support of agitating farmers. Nakate wrote multiple tweets in amplifying the plight of protesting farmers.

In one of her tweets, she said: “The people united will never be defeated #FarmersProtest.”

American actor John Cusack had already tweeted multiple times in support of the farmers protesting in India.

Mia Khalifa also voiced her support to the protesting farmers. Tweeting the image of elderly ladies protesting, Khalifa said: “What in the human rights violations is going on?! They cut the internet around New Delhi?!”

Khaled A. Beydoun, an associate Professor of Law at the University of Arkansas School of Law and Senior Affiliated Faculty at the University of California-Berkeley, has also tweeted multiple times in support of the agitating farmers and questioning the Modi government. After Rihanna tweeted in support of the farmers, he said: “Salute to Rihanna for shedding light on the #FarmersProtest in #India – she is bringing needed attention to a movement silenced by Twitter and violently suppressed by the Modi government.”
