Candidates appearing for the post of police constable in Madhya Pradesh had their castes stamped on their chests during their physical examination. The incident happened at the district hospital in Dhar which is around 4 hours away from Bhopal, when around 206 candidates queued up for the medical test. The candidates were segregated on the basis of their castes “to avoid confusion”. An inquiry had been ordered after the photos surfaced the media. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who was in a conference yesterday is yet to react on this issue. Several other activists too have openly spoken against this move calling this as a discriminatory and a human rights violation.
