Baseless Indian propaganda on Gilgit-Baltistan: Pakistan

Pakistan today said the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir(J&K) is a “disputed” territory and rejected Indian protest against Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018.

In a statement on Sunday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is a “disputed” territory and final status of Jammu and Kashmir will be determined through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite administered by the United Nations.

India had summoned Pakistan’s deputy high commissioner Syed Haider Shah on Sunday and had declared that any attempt to alter the status of any part of the territory of Gilgit-Baltistan order has no legal basis.

Dr Faisal said, instead of making frivolous protests and issuing legally untenable and uncalled for statements, India should take steps to vacate its illegal occupation and create the conditions for faithful implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

“As a responsible member of the international community, Pakistan has always taken steps consistent with UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir dispute,” Pakistan said, adding that its aim is to “further empower the people of Gilgit and Baltistan.”
