Bhopal | Amid controversy related to the ‘Vande Mataram’ not sung at the State Secretariat in Madhya Pradesh on January 1st, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has criticised the current government for the change in the rule.
Speaking to media, Chouhan said, “It’s unfortunate that Congress ended this tradition. I demand Congress govt to reintroduce this & if they don’t do it, I will sing Vande Mataram with patriots at Vallabh Bhavan. I’ve decided that I will sing Vande Mataram in the premises at 11 am on January 6.” Terming Vande Mataram as a mantra that instils sense of patritoism, the BJP leader said,”It’s a mantra that instills sense of patriotism & so BJP govt had decided that we’ll start weekly cabinet meetings with it and that it’ll be sung at Vallabh Bhavan (Secretariat) on 1st day of every month.” “All of our 109 MLAs will recite ‘Vande Matram’ at the Madhya Pradesh Secretariat in Bhopal on 7 January 2019,” he added.

Earlier Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath responding to the issue said, “The order to recite Vande Mataram in the Secretariat on first day of month has been put on hold. A decision has been taken to implement the order in a new form. Those who do not recite Vande Mataram are not patriots? “
