NDA rebel Upendra Kushwaha joins Congress led ‘Mahagatbandhan’ in Bihar

Patna | Former Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha on Thursday joined the Congress-led grand alliance (Mahagatbandhan) in Bihar.

Addressing a press conference on the former Union minister joining the grand alliance Congress leader Ahmed Patel said, “We welcome Shri Upendra Kushwaha and his party to the alliance of Congress and other like-minded parties in Bihar.”

Congress leader Shakti Singh Gohil further stated that RLSP leader joined the alliance for the greater good of the state and the country. Gohil said,”Upendra Kushwaha, for the greater good of the country and Bihar, resigned from his position, left NDA and has joined UPA. This is an alliance based on ideology and values. Speaking on the seat share in the grand alliance, the Congress leader said,” We will decide on seat-share amongst us with harmony and with a spirit to work for Bihar and the country.”

Welcoming Kushwaha in the grand alliance, RJD leader Tejahwi Yadav said,”This is not an alliance of political parties, but an alliance of voices of people. This is a fight against people who have betrayed the country. There is an undeclared emergency in the country today.”

Meanwhile Upendra Kushwaha allegeding Prime Minister Narendra Modi over its failure to fullfil promises to the citizens of Bihar said,”Mr. Modi had promised education, healthcare and employment in Bihar during elections. But, youth of Bihar are still migrating in large numbers to other parts of country for livelihood. Mr. Modi has failed on his promises.”

Citing his reason behind joining the grand alliance, Kushwaha said,”We had said that we have many options and UPA was one of them. The wholeheartedness shown by Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Yadav is one of the reasons I joined but the biggest reason I’m here is the people of Bihar.”

Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha on December 10 resigned from his post of Union Minister (State) of Human Resources and Development ending the speculation of his party quitting the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Earlier in November the RLSP chief expressing his grief over seat sharing in Bihar said that the BJP’s offer of seats to his party for the 2019 general election was “not respectable”.
