Late Union Minister Anant Kumar’s wife Tejaswini might contest election from his seat. Reportedly, the Bengaluru BJP unit has demanded a ticket for Tejaswini. However, the state BJP unit is yet to decide on the successor.
Anant Kumar held Bengaluru South parliamentary constituency. The constituency was known as BJP’s fortress. Talking on the matter, a senior BJP leader said that after the demise of Anant Kumar, the natural choice is his wife- Tejaswini. However, the party has to convince her to continue the legacy of her late husband.
The BJP leader further said that the matter is yet to be discussed with the family of the late leader. “Once the rituals are completed. We will talk and persuade her to contest from his seat,” the leader said.
However, the party seems to have a plan ‘B’ ready in its kitty. If Tejaswini Kumar refuses to contest the election, Basavanagudi MLA Ravi Subramanya can be party’s choice, sources said. Union Minister, D.V. Sadananda Gowda is also in the fray to lead the Bengaluru BJP.
