New Delhi | The Congress Party on Friday said that the Narendra Modi governments decision of Demonetisation was the biggest scam the country had seen since independence.
Addressing a press conference, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala stated an RTI reply had revealed that 11 District Cooperative Banks in Gujarat which are run by BJP leaders oversaw deposits worth of ₹14,300cr in just 5 days during Demonetisation.
The Congress alleged that “demonetisation turned out to be the biggest scam. Instead of eradicating black mone, it has helped to turn black money into white.”
“Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank (ADCB), where BJP President Amit Shah is the Director, secured deposits worth ₹745.59cr of demonetised notes in just 5 days after PM Narendra Modi announced Demonetisation.” Surjewala said while attacking BJP president Amit Shah.
Surjewala further added that Rajkot District Cooperative Bank got deposits worth ₹693.19cr of demonetised notes. Its chairman is Jayeshbhai Vitthalbhai Radadiya, who is a cabinet minister in Gujarat government. The Congress leader further revealed that the RTI reply had suggested that the demonetisation scheme was meant to benefit a ‘select group of BJP cronies’.
The Congress party further asked that whether PM Modi take an action against Amit Shah for facilitating to turn black money into white through cooperative banks?
