Vadodara | The Gujarat government under Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is stable, said Union minister Purshottamdas Rupala today, adding that his name being mentioned in the “race for chief ministership” was “gossip”.
The state has witnessed rumours on several occasions in the past few days that Rupani was resigning as Gujarat CM.
Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel, on June 14, had told reporters that Rupani had resigned during a cabinet meeting a day earlier and claimed that the state would get a new CM in “10 days time”.
Rupani had rubbished Patel’s claim at the time and had called it “totally false”.
Talking to PTI today, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Rupala said, “My name being dragged into the race for chief ministership is gossip with an ulterior motive.”
“There is no truth in what is being said. The government led by Vijay Rupani is stable,” he claimed.
Rupala was in Vadodara to participate in a function, held in the city’s indoor stadium in Sama locality, to mark International Yoga Day.
