The heat between the BJP and the Congress party does not seem to be settling down any sooner as more trouble is spelt for Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Turns out, Shalabh Mani Tripathi, a leader of the BJP party filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly making derogatory comments against PM Modi during the national conclave of the Congress party in New Delhi quite recently.
The BJP spokesperson filed the complaint in the fast track court of the district of Deoria under the sections of 499 and 500 (defamation) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code).
Tripathiās counsel stated that 5 April has been slated to be the date for the hearing of the case.
On this, Tripathi stated, āDuring the Congress party national conclave in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi tried to draw similarities between PM Modi, Nirav Modi (tainted diamond businessman) and Lalit Modi (former IPL commissioner).”
He further added, āHe also said the name Modi had become synonymous with corruption. This remark has hurt the sentiments of BJP party workers and countrymen and for this reason, I have filed a defamation case against him in Deoria courtā.
Markings its reaction on the latest development, the Congress party said it would carry on raising its voice against the policies of the government and its inherent āfailureā to keep a check on corruption.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi during the 3-day national conclave of the party in New Delhi kept on planting attacks on Modi and compared him with Lalit Modi and Nirav Modi, both accused of leaving the country after committing a huge fraud.
