New Delhi: Punjab Police arrested BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga on Friday morning. He was arrested based on a complaint registered with its cybercell.
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) national secretary was booked last month after AAP leader Sunny Singh filed a complaint against him. In the complaint he is alleging that Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga had made provocative statements, spread rumours, and tried to create religious and communal enmity.
On March 30, during a protest Bagga allegedly threatened Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Statements and video clips of Bagga have been submitted to the police.
Tajinder’s father Pritpal Singh Bagga said that around 10 to 15 cops visited their house and arrested his son. He said, “Around 10-15 Punjab Police cops barged into my home In the morning. They punched me in the face when I tried making a video of the arrest. They took away my phone. At 8:30 am, they dragged Tajinder outside. They didn’t even allow him to wear a proper turban.”
BJP condemned his arrest. Taking a swipe at AAP’s chief Arvind Kejriwal BJP spokesperson of Delhi BJP Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, “It is extremely shameful that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has started abusing his party’s political power in Punjab to intimidate political opponents. Every citizen of Delhi stands with the family of Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga in this hour of crisis.”
BJP leader Kapil Mishra said: “Tajinder Bagga was arrested and taken away by 50 Punjab Police personnel from his house. A true chieftain, he cannot be intimidated or weakened by such antics. Why so much fear of a true Sardar?”
After being booked Bagga released a video. In the video he is saying that Arvind Kejriwal and the Punjab government were misusing their power. He will continue to criticise Kejriwal until he tenders an apology to the Kashmiri Pandits, whom the Delhi CM, claimed the BJP leader, had insulted he further added.
