New Delhi: India has documented over 2,000 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours for the second day in a row. India recorded 2,380 new infections and 1,231 recoveries on Thursday. There are now 13,433 active cases in the country.
Earlier that day, 2,067 new cases were reported in 24 hours, a substantial increase from the 1,247 new infections reported the day before.
According to government data, the daily positivity rate was 0.53 percent on Thursday morning, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.43 percent. In the last 24 hours, about 4.5 lakh tests were conducted in India.
A total of 187.07 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.
The Centre advised five states – Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Mizoram – to require Covid-19 proper behaviour in their states in a letter sent on Wednesday. The centre has encouraged these states to keep an eye on the infection’s progress and take the necessary procedures to effectively manage Covid-19.
Covid In Delhi:
The national capital is seeing a spike in Covid-19 cases. Delhi reported over 1,000 fresh cases of coronavirus on Wednesday. With 1,009 new infections, the city recorded the highest Covid-19 cases since February 10.
UTTAR PRADESH
Meanwhile, in view of increasing Covid-19 cases in the state and its neighbouring districts, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued guidelines at a meeting and directed officials to scale up monitoring on Wednesday.
Face masks have been made mandatory in public places in Lucknow and NCR districts, including Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Meerut, Bulandshahr and Baghpat.
As of now, the total number of active cases in the state is 856.
