Maharashtra BJP Chief Warns Voters Of ED Action If They Vote For Congress By Taking Money

Mumbai: BJP State President Chandrakant Patil on April 3 said that he will write to Enforcement Directorate and ask them to investigate the alleged transfer of Rs. 1000 each into the voters account from Kolhapur North Assembly Bypoll by Congress.

He said that money is being distributed online and for those who are distributing money, Chandrakant Patil has warned them that they will have to face the ED’s inquiry. He said that information about voters being paid online is right.

Earlier Patil had alleged that a large number of college students have been employed to collect bank details of voters. “This time, I am 100% sure that black money is being deposited into the voters’ accounts. I will write to the ED asking for a thorough inquiry. The ED will unearth the source of money,” Patil said.

The BJP is contesting against Congress for the bypoll — a seat vacated after the death of Congress MLA Chandrakant Jadhav. A lot of prestige is at stake for Patil, who is from Kolhapur and the one who rejected the offer of Congress to elect Jayahsri Jadhav, widow of the deceased MLA, unopposed.

He leveled allegations at Congress and said that they are pressurizing liquor shop owners and bar owners to vote for Jadhav. “Two days ago a senior official held a meeting with all liquor shop and bar operators and threatened them to vote for Congress. Such level of intimidation is going on to get votes,” said Patil.

Patil also informed that union justice minister Ramdas Athawale and leader of state legislative assembly Devendra Fadnavis will be campaigning for BJP candidate Satyajeet Kadam on April 9 and April 10. “The door-to-door campaign has ended and now the focus will be on big rallies in the next 8 days,” Patil said.
