“Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second consecutive term on Friday, March 25. The oath was administered by Governor Anandiben Patel. The oath taking event took place at Ekana stadium in UP.
Yogi Adityanath has become the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh to return to power after completing a full tenure of five years. Yogi, 49, will be the 38th Chief Minister of the state. After 9 years, Yogi is going to become the first CM, who is becoming the Chief Minister by contesting the assembly elections. Before Yogi, Mulayam Singh Yadav became the Chief Minister in 2003 by contesting the election of MLA. Last time Yogi became MLC and became CM. Yogi was elected the leader in the presence of observer Amit Shah in the legislature party meeting on Thursday evening.
The oath ceremony was conducted in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Several union ministers including Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani. 12 chief ministers were also present at the event.
Besides Yogi Adityanath, 52 ministers were sworn in, hand-picked by the BJP leadership with an eye on the 2024 national election. Keshav Prasad Maurya, who lost the UP election, is back as Deputy Chief Minister. But Dinesh Sharma has been replaced by Brahmin leader Brajesh Pathak.
