Srinagar: Police on Saturday stated that four militants associated with Jaish and Lashkar outfits including a foreign Jaish commander, were killed in three separate gunfights, in Kashmir Valley districts. Police also stated that in an encounter one militant was arrested.
One police spokesperson quoting IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, “Two JeM militants were killed in an overnight gunfight in Chewaklan area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama that broke out on Friday night.”
Police said, “In subsequent gunfights in the wee hours on Saturday morning, one LeT militant each was killed in Serch area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and Nechama, Rajwar area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara.”
In another statement, one of the two Jaish militants killed in the Pulwama gunfight was identified by the IGP Kashmir identified as JeM commander Kamaal Bhai alias Jatt.
As per the IGP, Jatt was active since 2018. It was active in the Pulwama-Shopian area “and involved in several terror crimes & civilian atrocities”.
A joint operation was launched by the police and security forces in four to five locations across the valley. Amid the operations, they caught the militants and three encounters broke out, last night a police spokesperson said.
Taking to Twitter, Kashmir Police tweeted, “Pakistani terrorist killed in Pulwama encounter identified as JeM commander Kamaal Bhai @ Jatt. He was active since 2018 in the Pulwama-Shopian area & involved in several terror crimes & civilian atrocities: IGP Kashmir @JmuKmrPolice”
