New Delhi: Ashwini Kumar resigns from Congress Party. Amid his departure a tense situation has arisen in the Congress once again. In fact, while the party has remained silent on this issue, the leaders of the G-23 group have raised their voices. They said that leaving the party of leaders in this way shows that everything is not right in the party.
Senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the exclusion of senior leaders from the party was a matter of “grave concern”. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma and Lok Sabha MP Manish Tiwari said that the time has come for the party to hold a serious introspection. These three leaders are also a part of G-23. It is noteworthy that G-23 had written a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi in August 2020, calling for a major change in the party.
On the other hand, Azad told The Indian Express that it is a matter of great concern that one leader after another is leaving the party. Ashwini Kumar is the fourth or fifth former Union Minister to leave the party. Azad, a member of the Congress Working Committee and former Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said that a lot of introspection was needed in this situation.
Azad said that it is not right to say that these leaders are leaving the Congress at the behest of any person or party. Some things within the party also make the hardcore Congress leaders uncomfortable. On the other hand, Manish Tiwari said that it is sad for the party that this is happening.
Tiwari said that Ashwini Kumar and I worked together in the government of Dr. Manmohan Singh. There have been decent differences between him and me on many issues. There should also be introspection in case a worker leaves the party.
Former Haryana Chief Minister and another G-23 leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda wrote in a tweet, “The news of Ashwini Kumar leaving the Congress is sad and unfortunate. He is an old dear friend and belongs to the family of a freedom fighter. “
Let it be known that even though the Congress high command is silent about the departure of a big leader like Ashwini Kumar, the leaders of Group 23 have started raising their voice once again. He says the party cannot take it in the usual way. It has to be taken seriously.
