Hindi has deteriorated debate standards in Parliament: Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko

New Delhi | Rajya Sabha MP and MDMK chief Vaiko has again triggered the debate on Hindi when he said that the language has lowered the standard of debate in the Parliament.

Speaking to News Agency ANI, the newly elected Rajya Sabha MP said, ” What literature is there in Hindi? It has no roots and Sanskrit is a dead language, Those shouting in Hindi nobody can understand even after using a headphone. The standard of debate has deteriorated in Parliament all because of the imposition of Hindi.”

Vaiko’s statement has come after many political parties in Southern India has opposed the ‘Three Language Formula’ in the Union Government’s draft for the New Education Policy. The political parties have alleged that the BJP led union government is trying to impose Hindi over the ‘Non-Hindi’ speaking states.

However, after the controversy, the HRD Ministry issued a revised draft on the education policy which did not have a mention of the language being compulsory.
