New Delhi | The Congress Party today alleged that the BJP-PDP alliance was the root cause of President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir which got extended for another 6 months today.
Congress MP from Punjab’s Anandpur Sahib, Manish Tewari today in Lok Sabha said,” Today situation is such that we have to extend President’s rule in Jammu & Kashmir every 6 months, its roots are in the alliance of PDP & BJP in 2015.”
Tewari’s response came after Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved a statutory resolution in the Lok Sabha to extend President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir for a period of six months. Moving the resolution, he said since the state assembly has been dissolved and the Election Commission has decided to hold fresh elections in Jammu and Kashmir later this year, it is essential that the President’s Rule be extended for another six months with effect from July 3, 2019.
The Congress MP taking a dig at the government’s decision said, “If you have a tough policy against terrorism, we don’t oppose it, but there is a need to keep in mind that the fight against terrorism can only be won if people are with you.”
Today Amit Shah extending the President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir said that during the Governor’s Rule and later President’s Rule, the government has hit at the roots of terrorism. The state has seen bloodshed in previous elections, but things have changed, he told the House.
