Nitish Kumar ended his alliance with the BJP over fears that Amit Shah wanted to split his party like in Maharashtra.

Mumbai: Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as Bihar’s chief minister at 2 pm today after quitting the BJP on Tuesday and announcing a new ‘Grand Alliance’ which includes Tejashwi Yadav and other opposition parties with. Tejaswi Yadav will be the Deputy CM.

‚ÄúThe Mahagathbandhan¬†(Grand Alliance)¬†consisting¬†of seven¬†parties and¬†one¬†independent¬†will work¬†closely together,‚Ä̬†Nitish Kumar said after his second meeting with the¬†governor¬†yesterday. In the¬†first,¬†he resigned as¬†chief minister¬†of the government¬†formed by his party, the JDU, and the BJP.¬† Less¬†than an hour later, he returned to the¬†governor,¬†accompanied by Tejashwi Yadav and other¬†opposition¬†leaders, to¬†explain to him¬†that they should be¬†asked¬†to form the next government based on their combined¬†forces.
