Locals held protests in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur as Nitish Kumar visits AES patient

Patna | Amid Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s visit to the Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur where the children suffering from Acute cute Encephalitis Syndrome are been admitted, locals held a protest against the government negligence over the issue.

108 children have died of the Acute Encephalitis Syndrome in Bihar Muzaffarpur over the last 2 weeks with 89 deaths being registered at the Shree Krishna Medical Colleges and Hospital. Kumar earlier expressed grief over the children’s death in Muzaffarpur and ordered payment of Rs four lakh as ex-gratia to the next of the kin of the deceased. He also directed the officials of the Health department and the district administration as well as doctors to take all possible measures to tackle the disease.

Earlier Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan along with his deputy Ashwini Kumar Choubey and state Health minister Mangal Pandey visited Muzaffarpur on Sunday to take stock of the situation and held meetings with doctors and officials of both the central and state governments. Vardhan also held a review meeting with the officials of the Health and other departments concerned of the state government in Patna.
