Vijay Shankar ruled out of World Cup; Mayank Agarwal called for replacement

London | The list of injury woes increased for Indian as Allrounder Vijay Shankar has been ruled out of the world cup after a fracture in his left toe.

In an official word by the Indian team, the management informed, “Vijay Shankar sustained a non-displaced fracture of the left big toe, which will require a minimum of 3 weeks to heal. The injury rules him out of the ongoing World Cup”.”Mayank Agarwal has been requested as replacement.,” it added.

Allrounder Vijay Shankar was hit on the tow in Southampton, however, he passes the fitness test and played two games against Afghanistan and West Indies. He was again hit by Bumrah in the nets on the same toe. Rohit Sharma in the post-match press conference confirmed about Shankar’s injury.

Vijay Shankar scored a total of 58 matches in the three matches he played in the ongoing World cup against Pakistan, Afghanistan and West Indies. He also became the first Indian to get a wicket on the first ball he bowled in a world cup when he got Imam-Ul-Haq got out on the 5th over in a game against Pakistan.

Shankar becomes the third Indian player to get injured in the World Cup while the second Indian to get ruled out of the world cup after Shikhar Dhawan.
