New Delhi | AAP candidate Balbir Singh Jakhar’s son Uday Jhakhar, claimed that his father paid AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal ₹6 crores for his ticket, one day before the Lok Sabha Polls in Delhi.
“My father joined politics about three months ago, he had paid Arvind Kejriwal Rs 6 crore for a ticket, I have credible evidence that he had paid for this ticket,” Balbir Singh Jakhar’s son Uday told news agency ANI on Saturday.
Balbir Singh Jhakhar is the AAP candidate from West Delhi.
“Why was my father who was not even part of the Anna Hazare movement given a ticket by the AAP?” Uday asked.
He said that his father was given a ticket after he offered to pay to Arvind Kejriwal and Gopal Rai.
However, the payment was made to Kejriwal.
The AAP candidate’s son claimed that his father even tried to bail out former Congress leader and 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused Sajjan Kumar.
He further said that he is exposing the truth of his own father because he refused to pay for his education, to use the money for political activities instead.
Balbir Jhakhar, on the other hand, strongly refuted the claims.
He said, “I condemn the allegations. I have never discussed with my son anything about my candidature. I speak to him very rarely. He stays at his maternal parents’ home from the time of his birth and I divorced my wife in 2009. She stayed with me for only 6-7 months. His custody was granted to my wife after the divorce.”
Delhi BJP has written a letter to the Election Commission seeking a probe in this matter.
All seven seats in Delhi head for polling in a single phase on May 12 in Phase 6.
