According to Live Law, a Metropolitan Magistrate court in Mumbai has directed police to investigate the criminal defamation complaint filed by Lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar against actor Kangana Ranaut for remarks made against him dragging his name into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Andheri ordered the probe in, this complaint filed under Sections 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 200 (examination of complainant) of Code of Criminal Procedure.
The complaint has been forwarded to Juhu police station and directed to file the report by January 16.
As per the complaint by Mr Akhtar, Kangana gave an interview to Republic TV alleging that the Hindi film industry was run by a mafia and named Mahesh Bhatt and Javed Akhtar as people who are a part of this alleged ‘Mafia’.
“Then there are Javed Akhtar and company, who are so-called atheists. But their whole group is about keeping an eye on who is Islam friendly and who is not Islam friendly,” she said.
The video of the said interview on Republic TV has been watched by millions of people on YouTube alone, which is damaging his reputation, the complainant has alleged.
