“Those Speaking Against Farm Laws, Promised It In Their Manifesto”: PM Modi

Hitting out at the opposition, PM Modi said that manifestos of all the political parties and speeches of their leaders mentioned these farm reforms.

New Delhi| Farmers have been agitating against the agricultural laws at the Singhu border for 23 days. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Narendra Modi) addressed the farmers of Madhya Pradesh on Friday. PM Modi said that the new laws made for the farmers in the country are not made overnight. He said, “These agricultural reform laws did not come overnight. For the last 20-22 years, every government has discussed it extensively. At least all organizations have discussed these.”

PM Modi said that those demands of farmers have been met, which were ignored for years. “For the last two decades, the central, state government and organizations have been bringing new laws that have been made for the farmers,” PM Modi said. The Prime Minister said that another lie related to agricultural reforms is being spread about the APMC i.e. our mandis. “What have we done new in farm law? We have given the freedom to farmers, given a new option,” he said. The Prime Minister said that not a single market has been closed after the new law. “Then why is this lie being spread?” he questioned.

He further added that his government is spending more than 500 crore rupees on modernizing APMC, computerization of them. “Then where did this talk about the closure of APMC come from?” he asked.

Opposition Upset That The Reforms They Promised Were Implemented By Us

Hitting out at the opposition, PM Modi said that there is nothing new in the farm laws. He said that manifestos of all the political parties and speeches of their leaders mentioned these reforms. PM Modi also took a dig at former Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar who had suggested that Modi govt should listen to the farmers protesting at Singhu borders. PM Modi referred to the letters written by Pawar to the state CMs suggesting to bring the private sector along with Mandis.

PM Modi added that the opposition is upset because they only promised the reforms but his govt implemented it.

What Happened to Loan Waiver?

The PM said that the Swaminathan Committee report is a great proof of how ruthless the people (opposition leaders) talking about farmers are. “The report came, but these people kept suppressing the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee for eight years,” PM asserted. He said his govt implemented the recommendations and increased MSP 1.5 times.
He also took a dig at Congress’ loan waiver scheme. He asked farmers of Madhya Pradesh whether their loans were waived by the Kamal Nath govt after coming to power. The Prime Minister said that the farmer thought that now the entire debt would be waived. “However, in return, he used to get notice of banks and warrant of arrest. Who got the biggest benefit of debt waiver?” PM Modi asked.
