UK court rejects Vijay Mallya’s appeal against extradition order

London | A UK High Court has rejected the appeal against the extradition of Vijay Mallya, a step closer towards bringing him back to India.

Vijay Mallya, who is facing charges of fraud, money laundering and violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), had appealed against the decision of UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid to extradite him to India.

Mallya can now appeal in the Supreme Court, which can take another six weeks time.

The 62-year-old, owner of the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines, has been accused in a money laundering case of over ₹9000 crores.
