Supreme Court likely to deliver verdict in a case related to Ayodhya-Babri Masjid dispute on Friday

TestHostEntry

New Delhi | The Supreme Court on Friday is likely to announce its verdict in a case related to the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid issue in Ayodhya.

The Constitutional Bench led by Chief Justice Dipak Mishra will decide on the matter whether namaz or prayers can be offered anywhere – or whether a mosque is an essential part of the practice of Islam and is needed for the congregation and to pray. The bench will rethink on its earlier judgment of 1994 when it said t namaz could be offered anywhere and that a mosque was not necessary for this. The Apex court had ruled that the government could, therefore, if needed, acquire the land that a mosque is built on.

Referring to the 1994 decision of the top court, the Muslim representatives in the Ayodhya dispute had said that the earlier verdict is unfair to them and that decision had influenced the Allahabad High Court decision of 2010 where it divided that disputed land between Hindu and Muslim parties, though the main part was given to Hindus.

The Hindu representatives have alleged that by Challenging the 1194verdict of Supreme Court over the offering of Namaz, the Muslim community wants to delay the hearing of the Ayodhya dispute.
