Amritsar: The All India Sikh Students Federation on Wednesday raised pro-Khalistan slogans in the premises of the Golden Temple in Amritsar on the 34th Anniversary of the Operation Blue Star.
Earlier in a press conference, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh condemned all types of sloganeering, he said, it is “not good to raise slogans inside the Golden Temple when Gurbani is played.”
The City administration has deployed Five Rapid Action Force companies and several companies in the city to maintain law and order. Security has also been tightened around the Golden temple. The Punjab police have also busted a few modules which allegedly operated at the behest of foreign-based handlers to cause communal disturbances.
On Tuesday, a radical outfit named Dal Khalsa staged ‘genocide remembrance parade’ in Amritsar to pay homage to the people killed in the attack.
In the year 1984, the then prime minister Indira Gandhi ordered Operation blue star, a military operation to remove Khalistan leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and other militants from the Golden temple and establish control over Harminder Saheb complex in Amritsar.
