Mumbai, May 2: The special CBI court in Mumbai will pronounce the verdict in the murder case of renowned crime journalist Jyotirmoy Dey (popularly known as J Dey) on Wednesday. J Dey was shot dead in Powai area of Mumbai on June 11, 2011, seven years ago. 11 people have been accused in this case.
J Dey was going on a motorcycle in Powai area of Mumbai on June 2011, where the attackers followed him. After chasing him they fired five bullets from behind. The bystanders took him to the nearby Hiranandani hospital where he was declared dead. So far, the Mumbai Police has arrested the attackers.
Infamous gangster Chhota Shakeel took the responsibility of J Dey killing. He called up other journalists and informed them about it. A total of 13 people including Chhota Rajan, shooter Satish Thangappan and journalist Jigna Vora were named as accused, while Vinod Asrani, an accused named, has died during the trial.
Given the seriousness of the matter, the police were removed from the investigation and handed over to the crime branch. The Special Court related to MCOCA started the final hearing in this case in February.
