New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has filed a defamation case against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia over his allegations of corruption against his wife. Mr. Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, has already filed a ₹ 100 crore civil defamation case against Mr. Sisodia.
Earlier last month, Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia had alleged that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave contracts to companies owned by his wife and his son’s business partners to supply personal protective equipment kits above market rates during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. At a press conference in Delhi, Sisodia referred to a report done by The Wire and The Cross Current about the alleged scam based on the RTI replies from the state’s National Health Mission.
