Rajya Sabha: 10 New Maharashtra Council Members To Take Oath On Friday

Mumbai: The ten newly-elected members of the Maharashtra Legislative Council will take oath on Friday, according to an official.

The biennial election was held on June 20. The new MLCs – Pravin Darekar (BJP), Ram Shinde(BJP), Prasad Lad(BJP), Uma Khapre(BJP), Shrikant Bharatiya ( BJP), Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar, Eknath Khadse (NCP), Sachin Ahir, Amasha Padvi (Shiv Sena) and Bhai Jagtap (Congress) – will take oath at around noon, the official said.

The biennial election was scheduled for June 20.

Meanwhile, Legendary athlete P.T. Usha and music maestro Ilaiyaraaja were among the prominent personalities nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the government on Wednesday.

Philanthropist and administrator of the Dharmasthala temple Veerendra Heggade and noted screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad were also nominated to the Upper House of parliament.
