Prahlad Patel, the BJP candidate for the mayoral elections in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam, has landed in a controversy after one of his videos while campaigning went viral on social media. “Click pictures of all those houses which have Congress flags. Deprive them of all services,” Mr Patel is heard telling a crowd in what appeared to be campaign rally. As the video started doing rounds on social media, Mr Patel claimed the video was “doctored” and sought an investigation by the police.
A mayoral candidate from Ratlam, about five hours from capital Bhopal, Mr Patel was upset at seeing Congress flags put up at a locality where he was campaigning. Following that, Mr Patel reportedly issued the threat.
“Click pictures of all those houses which have Congress flags. Deprive them of all services. It doesn’t matter if we don’t get votes from 5-10 houses but we need to teach them a lesson,” an angry Prahlad Patel is heard telling the crowd.

Following backlash, Mr Patel said: “I am going to request the police to investigate this. Whoever is behind this should be punished.”
In the Ratlam mayoral contest, Congress’s Mayank Jat is reportedly giving a tough fight to Mr Patel.
As the video went viral, the Congress’ candidate issued a statement calling it the arrogance of BJP leaders.
