A political controversy has erupted over BJP-led Centre’s new ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ , opposition says don’t divert people’s attention.

Mumbai: The new “Har Ghar Tiranga” movement at the centre of the BJP-led administration has sparked a political debate, with the opposition claiming that the government is using the movement to deflect attention from important issues.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited people to support the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative by hoisting or displaying the tricolour at home between August 13 and August 15. PM Modi said that this movement will “deepen our connect” with the national flag.

“This year, when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, let us strengthen the Har Ghar Tiranga Movement. Hoist the Tricolour or display it in your homes between 13th and 15th August,” he tweeted.

Congress Supriya Shrinate said , “Dear PM, There’s another interesting nugget. You and your ideologue the RSS did not hoist the national flag, our beloved tricolour for 52 years. Read that again 52 years,” she said.
“I think there is nothing wrong. But you can’t force anybody. You can’t put pressure on anybody. Every citizen of the country has respect for Tiranga,” Congress leader Rashid Alvi said.
AIUDF MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya pointing out the fact that RSS didin’t hoist the flag till 2002, said that they will support the initiative.
National Conference leader Sheikh Bashir Ahmed also slammed the Central government over its campaign and said to ANI, “This is all a drama. They just want to show people that they have done work as people have respect for Tiranga. But this type of politics is being done to divert from core issues. Are we living in China or Pakistan? Why is there a need to distribute flags? Is India going somewhere else?”
As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign led by Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the tricolor will be raised in more than 20 million homes across the country for three days next month.
More than 100 million people will join the campaign to rededicate themselves to the service of Mother India. According to an official statement, it will go a long way in instilling a new sense of patriotism in people.
